Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Early morning commuters in Chandan Nagar were met with a grim sight as the body of an unidentified elderly man was discovered outside Chandan Nagar Sub Hospital. According to local sources, the man had been spotted wandering around the hospital premises the previous day and eventually lay down near its entrance.
At around 7 am, locals noticed that the man had been lying still for an extended period. Suspecting something was wrong, they informed the Chandan Nagar police station. Police promptly arrived at the scene and rushed the unconscious man to Chandan Nagar Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Initial medical assessments revealed no visible injury marks on the body. The attending doctor suggested that exposure to the cold might have been the cause of death. However, further investigations and a post-mortem examination are awaited to confirm the exact cause.
The elderly man’s identity remains unknown, and efforts are underway to trace his family or acquaintances. Police have circulated information about the deceased in the local area and nearby communities in the hope of finding someone who can identify him.
Locals expressed concern and sadness over the incident, urging authorities to ensure better care for homeless individuals, especially during cold weather. This tragic event underscores the vulnerability of the elderly and homeless during harsh winters.
The Chandan Nagar police have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to investigate the case and identify the deceased. They have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
